Hello,

I am a Florida resident, and I am writing today demanding you renew Ms. Calhoun's contract for the 2025-2026 school year.

What's happening to Ms. Calhoun is not just unfair; it's alarming. She was removed for calling a student by their preferred name. That wasn't a political statement. It was a simple act of acknowledgment. An act of respect. And for that, she is being cast out of the profession she has devoted herself to.

This decision doesn't exist in a vacuum. It reflects a growing trend of punishing educators for showing empathy. If we continue down this path, we'll drive away the very people we need most — the teachers who create trust, who connect with students, who keep education human. We say this policy is rooted in the best interest of our children yet we are creating a world that places them at a disadvantage.

This is a breaking point. You have the power to either escalate the damage or begin to repair it.

No one is asking you to break policy. We're asking you to look at the spirit behind it. We're asking you to recognize that this is a moment that calls for more than compliance: it calls for true leadership.

Reinstate Ms. Calhoun. Show the people of this district — and the next generation of voters, leaders, and educators — that courage still has a place in public office. That respect is not a risk. That doing the right thing is not something to fear, but something to expect.

The legacy you leave will not be built by how well you avoided controversy. It will be built by how willing you were to protect those who did the right thing, even when it wasn't easy. I demand you renew Ms.Calhoun's contract on behalf of Florida's brightest who deserve a promising future.
